Kalimba Freyja is an instrument that was created slowly. Its breathtaking design was gradually revealed with each delicate sanded layer, hour after hour. The result came after 16 hours of manual sanding.
What makes it exceptional
Freyja is made of solid walnut wood with a beautiful grain pattern that forms when the tree trunk is split. Such areas on the wood are minimal, as they are usually cracked and unsuitable for making musical instruments. The precise approach to natural drying the wood ensured that the instrument remained intact, without cracks, damage, and with a full sound.
The polished mechanics of the kalimba is the finishing touch in its visual appearance, highlighting the uniqueness of this instrument.
Sound
Freyja is characterized by a “Temple Tempo Sound” – deep, meditative, crystal-clear. It has a full range of 19 tones with a long sustain. Kalimba Freyja is well-balanced in both lows and highs. In one word: Perfect.
The kalimba is tuned in the E minor diatonic scale, suitable for intuitive playing. With dimensions of 17 x 14 cm, the kalimba fits comfortably in the hands of adults. Freyja is designed in a double-row layout, which is comfortable for beginners or players with larger thumbs.
There is only one piece available, ready for immediate shipping. The package includes a wool felt case and a stand for the kalimba.
Maybe you remember the “do re mi fa so la si do” exercise from the music classes at your elementary school. It’s an indication of the seven tones in a diatonic scale. If you’ve just hummed this in your mind, you sang one octave. Ordinary, we tune these kalimbas to G major. This kalimba is tuned in special way – in diatonic E minor tuning (E F# G A H C D).
